Against this backdrop, Brumalia Hardware has grown over the past thirty eight (38) years to become one of the most successful hardware enterprises island wide, operating under the name of “Brumalia House”.
In 1986, John Chin’s son, Howard, joined the business, bringing to it a fresh injection of innovative ideas. In 1991, Mr. Chin retired from the business and as part of his succession plan, he appointed his three sons to the Board of Directors. New and strong leadership for Brumalia House would now be provided by Howard Chin – Managing Director, Joseph Chin – Purchasing and IT Director and Gerry Chin – Operations Director.

More recently, Management formed a strategic alliance with the “Do It Best” giant hardware cooperative based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This will enable Brumalia to improve their operational system, store design and display and carry a wider product range representing most of the major manufactures. The business is expected to expand into other locations in more developed areas such as Kingston and Portmore and Montego Bay by 2008. Over the years, Brumalia has also embarked on a strategy to strength their position in the real estate market by acquiring commercial properties within Mandeville. Currently, the business has three(3) large commercial properties which are being rented commercially. Some of their large tenants include Shopper’s Fair Supermarket, Palace Cineplex, Domino’s Pizza, Tastee Patties, Ping’s Fabrics and G.K.R.S. In addition to all this, the impact of rising real estate values over the years has strengthened Brumalia’s real estate position.
