Brumalia House

Brumalia Hardware Limited

Brumalia House was founded in 1942 by Cleve and Kathleen Sewell. In those early years, the business was operated solely as a retail hardware store, located on the corner of Perth Road and Ward Avenue  in Mandeville.

The business registered no real growth until 1968, when Linton G. “John” Chin and wife Patricia, wholesale merchants from Westmoreland, bought Brumalia House as a going concern.

Through hard Work, entrepreneurial skill and innovative ideas, the Chins were able to grow the business into one of the leading hardware outfits in Central Jamaica. With a vibrant retail trade and wholesale distribution to smaller hardware stores throughout central Jamaica; Brumalia Hardware soon developed a strong reputation for reliability and excellent customer service. It was also the first hardware business in Jamaica to move from the over-the-counter service to the open store, self- serve concept.
